Raising Community Voices in Energy Transition

Comparative Case Studies

Our project will be conducted in collaboration with six equity-deserving case study communities, each of which is exposed to a unique set of key climate risks, is at a different stage in the energy transition process and is characterized by unique pre-existing energy-society relations, yet all cases share two key climate risks in common: risks to infrastructure and risks to living standards. The cases also vary in important aspects that are valuable to our comparative approach, including: pre-existing sources of vulnerability and enablement defined by intersectional positionality; and local socio-cultural and political contexts. In all cases one or more team members already have established community relationships, and have conducted previous participatory research– enabling a rapid, targeted research approach.
